After the repeated warnings on this thread you still went ahead with a potentially inadequate power supply?

Well as long as you didnt lose any parts.

Edit: Its amazing how we can critizice someone for taking a calculated risk, and yet turn our backs to do similar things. Anyone here not overclocking?

Quick question: those adapters have two Molex connectors, right? You didn't plug them both into the same chain, did you? It probably would have been fine if you split the load across two chains, like it was intended to do.
Of course, if both chains are on the same rail, that's no good anyway.

Edit: A careful re-read shows that the OP specifies single-molex to PCI-e.

Bad comparison. I keep my chip as close to stock as possible (3.5 @ 1.39)

This thread is like saying "Should I push my chip to 1.65v?" and everyone saying "no, that's too high"

And then doing it anyway and being like "Whoa almost fried my chip!"

I think that the OP was just looking for reassurance, and was going to use the PSU regardless of any warnings.

17A? Too low.

And for those with VX550s commenting, this is a 50A power supply. That's more than 800W Thermaltakes and whatnot.

This one might be better. It has 34A on the +12V rail (408W). I don't know for 100% sure if it has enough power for a single 4890, but it's certainly a much better unit than the SunPro, and therefore it has a much better chance of easily providing that power.
