Default Is a Corsair 750W hx enough?

My current systen was upgraded with an Ati 5850 and i have to buy a new source.
My friends tell me to not get the 750W hx one but the 850W hx because if i will want to crossfire it in the future, and to OC a future procesor etc, to be sure i will have enough juice.
What do u think guys? is this 750W hx enough or i should go for a 850 one?
thx!

750 is fine but like your friend, grab the 850 for some "just in case you will need it room"

750 will power any 2 card setup. It has 720 W on the +12v Rail, so you are fine. Even if you also want to overclock a high-end intel quad.

The TX/HX750W will be plenty for the 5850 in Crossfire. It actually wouldn't surprise me to see the VX550W handle it in Crossfire, although I personally wouldn't recommend the VX550W for this situation since I don't know for sure.

yeah just go with the 750w its cheaper and there is no need for an 850w psu. 750 can handle the 2 card setup and room for overclocking.

the 750 is FAR MORE than enough....
the corsair PSUs are severely underrated
i ran a 9800gx2 on my hx520 a while ago... in my sig rig
and OCed it like mad, voltmodded (software) etc.
my PSU is over 2 years old, have had it since corsair first launched them

I'll come in and say you'll be fine for 5850 crossfire. Even a quality 650 watt would run the 5850's but the 750 will keep you with more headroom.

A 5850 takes about 160W maximum...

And overclocked quad core, about 190W, maximum.

That should give you your answer.

Yep the 750HX would be more than enough to handle it. 5850CF would be just find on an i7 or AM3 setup, which have much higher TDP, especially when OCd.

Bottom Line: You're covered

I wouldn't tell you to turn away a good deal though; I bought a 750HX, then found another store selling the 850HX for the exact same price...so guess which I kept
