Default CrossFire ATI 5870 Needs new PSU

I just order another ATI 5870 for my crossfire setup. Since my old SKYTEC 600watt power supply wont let me even OC one 5870... I was thinking of going Corsair 850TX 850W PSU. Would that be enough? And to OC both GPU's in the futere.

Yes, the TX850w would be more than enough for a 5870 CF setup.

BTW, where did you find a 5870 in stock?

You could save a few bucks and gun for the TX750 also. I've heard that the TX850's internals are basically identical to a TX750 but don't quote me on that.

You're right, both are a CWT PSH design, but the 750TX has 60A/720W on the 12V rail, while the 850TX has 70A/840W.

The 850TX outperforms its little brother in most instances, bringing more stable rails, and less voltage ripple, but it doesn't like hot tests; sometimes its efficiency can drop below 80% during them.

Anyway, OP: Either the TX750 or the TX850 would do. Personally, I'd get the Antec TruePower New 750W, it's a better PSU than either of the Corsairs (It's a SeaSonic build, based on the M12D platform) and has 62A/744W on the 12V rail, as well as having more stable voltage rails, less ripple and higher efficiency than either of the Corsairs. It also has a few modular cables, and can be found for $5 more than the TX750.

Was thinking about that 2. But now since bestbuy has TX850W Corsair in stock. I can just grab that in seconds, Dont need to wait days till Antec arrives...

Lately seems like ATI 5XXX series cards are getting more pricy

Actualy where I live its not that hard to find local. I was at frys store, they had both 5870 for $399 and 5850 for $279. If I knew that before, I wouldnt had to wait from newegg or tigard, I would just grab one yday!
