Default OCZ ModXStream 900W vs Corsair HX/TX750W (5870CFX)

Hello,

I'm not really high on knowledge in the PSU scene, was wondering if someone who has had both of these PSU's to point one of the 2 out as being better / more realiable than the other.

Heres links to specs of both if you would like to reply just by checking on their Amp/Rail charts..

OCZ ModXStream 900W

Corsair TX/HX750W

(Go to "Resources" tab for charts)

I'm looking at going CFX 5870 so thats why i need a good recommendation, all pointers will be appreciated

The Corsair HX750watt would be your best bet as far as efficiency and build quality goes.

TX750 is an older CWT PSH design, and personally, I don't think it's worth the cost any more.

ANd that OCZ MXS 900watt is a Cheap FSP Group build...

Go with the Corsair, all the way. In my experience, I haven't found a higher quality PSU.

I'd say the Seasonic X-Series 750watt is better.

Just for the Efficiency & being fully modular.

The rest is on par with Corsairs new HX line (750/850) but a tad more expensive.

So a TX750 / OCZ MXS are quite useless when it comes to the HX?

Over where i live theres a massive price gap between TX and HX, atleast 80-90$

Not useless.

Just not as nice.

And cable management with the 750watt TX is pretty hard depending on the case. Just a pre-warning on that.

If I may intervene quickly, the Antec TruePower New 750W is a worthy choice. It's based on a SeaSonic platform, similar to the M12D. It's almost as good as the HX750, but a fraction of the price.

Very true.

It'd help if shopping in New Zeland had a site like Newegg we could use. Some builds out there are better priced than others while offering the same performance.

Tigerdirect.co.nz is good, one of the only online stores that has a lot of stuff.

Prices on hardware vary, usually a bit less than what you'd pay in USD for something, some hardware is also extremely expensive, 5870's are like 550USD lol (700+ NZD)
