Default Corsair CMPSU-400W Question

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if this power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008

will be able to power a Radeon 5770 and i5 CPU/Mobo. I won't overclock at all, but the friend will need it to power the PC without exploding. LOL

The 5770 is very low on power consumption and I'm hoping the PSU will last. I'm never one to skimp on PSU's, but I'd love to save some money on the PSU to get him something he won't have to upgrade anytime soon.

Max 5770 is 108w. I5 is around 95w. The 400cx can do 30a/360w on 12v. If the rig only a 5570, i5 cpu and 1 or 2 hds and no oc, it should be fine.

No OC, i5, SINGLE 5770, 1 HDD, 1 DVD drive...

Nothing else.

Well, 2 or 3 fans in the NZXT Black beta

Should be able to power the system well, unless he gets way too many fans, HD's or tries to overclock.

The Corsair CX400W is a really good unit, and so it's a really good choice. However, the importance of picking the highest-possible quality power supply diminishes when it's being used for a system that's not being overclocked. The main reason why some of us go so nuts over picking the best possible PSU is because it's going to be used for overclocking, and so it needs to be able to handle all of that.

So, this is beautiful overkill and I love it!!

I'm trying to persuade him to overclock (and get bigger PSU) but he gets defensive and says "NO!".

...

...

Must be too many times of seeing a BSOD from me overclocking that's scarred him.
