I just bought a hx620.
__________________Have you guys every heard of this? I have a power supply that won't turn off. When I plugged it in, it powered up the computer immediately without me having to push the power button. Strange thing is that the power supply never power off. Even when I shut off windows, the power supply is still providing power to the mother board and fans. Other thing I noticed is that if I just plug the power supply in by itself without anything attached to it, the fan runs. I take it this is a defect?

It certainly sounds like a defect. I haven't heard of any Corsair PSU doing that yet either. That's just weird.

Every experience i've had when i plugged the power supply into the motherboard and it instantly turned on was the motherboard.
Does it do this with another PSU? Have you tried the psu with another computer?

did you try removing the psu from the system and plugging it into the wall? I think that BigpoppaFrary is right, your motherboard seems to be sending the signal to turn on no matter what.
edit: to fast for me ![]() Sounds like it is the psu then.

So, I'm curious about something: have you flipped the PSU's switch off and then back on again to see if it makes any difference?

Do you have another power cable that you can try?
If so, try that. Sorry I can't offer any more valuable input.

Silly questions...did you verify you plugged the power switch connector into the correct pins on the motherboard and didn't accidentally reverse the polarity? If this is a case and motherboard you've been using with a different PSU, you can disregard...if that's the case, it's probably a bad PSU.

I need to isolate this point: it is not the motherboard. It is the PSU. When everything is unplugged from the PSU, and then the PSU's power cable is plugged back into the outlet, the fan spins. That is, the PSU is all by itself, but yet it will not turn off.
So, it is not the motherboard. I don't see how it could be anything other than the PSU.
