Default Which is better suited for my needs?

I want to build a system that has a core i5 processor and a 5770 (possibly even a 5850).

I want to know which is better to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341022 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008

I know that you guys think that cosair makes the best psu's but would the 400w corsair be better than the 550w ocz?

If you guys need anymore information please tell me.

I apologize to be the bearer of bad news, but the same Newegg link is posted twice. It's just the CX400W.

You have the same link twice. Corsair tends to underrate their wattage, and I've always have chosen Corsair. The 12V rail on that Corsair 400 is pretty high for such a low wattage unit. However, if you're thinking about a i5 build with a 5770 or 5850, you should be looking at 600W+.

Is that because of the i5? How much wattage does that thing consume?! 600+ is pretty big for the 5770 or 5850.

Only 95W. I typically think that "too much" is just enough.

Hmm. Well I personally wouldn't go with anything that has "Fatal1ty" on it because it strikes me as a way to enable whatever company to raise the price higher than it should be. But that's me: I don't like buying stuff that's hyped up like that.

On the other hand, it could be a better PSU than the CX400W for all I know. But I know one thing: for extreme overclocking, I personally put more trust in a regular high-end PSU than one that's all hyped up with some kind of money-making gimmick. But I'm kind of tired of seeing that name too.

I agree. Choosing a power supply is the most important decision for any overclocker. Please help!

Grab this Corsair 550w and don't look back. The 5xxx's have very low power draw but if you'll be oc'ing why not have a little headroom and a very solid psu..?
