Default Corsair TX750W PSU

For my upgrade, I'm building a system that will consist of TWO WD caviar black 500GB in RAID1 7200rpm, TWO GTX 285's in SLI OCED, Core i5 OCed to ~4GHz, Asus P7P55D EVO motherboard, 2x2GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1600mhz CL7, standard 22x optical, and an Antec Twelve Hundred Case. The case will have EIGHT fans.

Is my Corsair TX750W PSU enough to power this system? At the worst case scenario I've researched that the GTX 285's will take up 250W each and the CPU will use ~250-300W. That alone will be 800W plus the case and other accessories it will be around 850W MAX. So in theory my PSU can't power my rig, but I've come to ask you, can it?

The CPU take up 250-300W???? An i5??? I doubt you could make that thing pull 200W under full load OCed to the nines...
You are fine with that PSU. No worries.

Just curious, why are you getting 2 GTX285's in SLI and an i5 motherboard, won't the 8x PCIe lanes bottleneck your cards?

You'll be okay with it, even with that i5 OC'ed.

You'd be hard pushed getting that rig to pull 550W.

You're more than fine.

Yeah, I'm sure.

Your CPU around 180W when overclocked, depening on voltage.
Each GTX 285 around 180W, probably less in SLI since they won't both be used 100%
Fans, HDDs, mobo, etc., maybe pushing 50W.

You're maybe getting close to about 600W, but your PSU is good for 740W, so you're fine.

Power supply calculators over-estimate things.

These are rough estimates, but will be fairly close to the actual figure.

Well, i didn't know that so thank you

And here is a PSU calculator that tells you the approximate required power supply based on your parts.
