Default Is 750W enough?

Quick question.

I'm helping my friend build a computer today and I was wondering how much power I need for this Core i5 build.

Components:
CPU: Core i7 860 2.8 GHz (Stock)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD4
RAM: 2 x 2 GB G. Skill Ripjaws Red Line(?)
Case: CM Storm Scout (Stock Fans)
HDD: 1 Western Digital Caviar Blue 640 GB
Optical Drive: 1 Regular LG CD/DVD-RW
Graphics Card: ATi Radeon HD 5770 (Sapphire 1 GB)

From my guess, I should get around a 650W - 750W. That's what I think... But at the moment, I'm unsure and I'm going to go today to purchase the parts. I'll be going with a Corsair branded power supply.

All help appreciated.

750 watts will more than cover your build even overclocked with XFire

500hx would more than do. Any good quality 500w PSU will do. That GPU doesn't need much at all.

Yes, but from my knowlege that system will only use less than 400W of power. A good quality power supply with a Wattage of 550W+ will be good enough, I have a similar computer as you, in your post, but I have a 750W in there for future upgrades

Great, thanks for the help.

I'm going to think about a modular power supply. It'll just be easier for Cable management. I don't have a modular and I know how hard it is...

The only reason to get more than a 500W PSU would be if he had crossfire in mind for the future.

The "problem" with a modular power supply is that if you plan on using CrossFireX/SLi, you'll most likely use up all the cables

If you get yourself a solid PSU now it will serve you well for many years to come.
