Default Should I risk SLi on my 600W?

I'm just wondering if I should risk running 2 GTX 260's (one the normal 260, the other a 216) in SLI with my 600W Vantec PSU? I'm thinking of buying 2 4pin to 6pin PCI-E cables since the PSU isn't SLI certified or any of that.

Could I do it without blowing my system, taking in to consideration the CPU power usage as well during games? It would only be for the short term til I can afford a decent quality SLI PSU.

36A on the +12V rail, or 432W. It's actually a 550W power supply at best. I'd say no. Since nVidia will certify just about any junk PSU, if this one didn't meet their spec then it must be real crap.

I wouldn't, if the psu doesn't have 4 PCI-e connectors it's not meant for that much of a load. Yeah, how many 12a's are there?

I wouldn't either.

I fried another motherboard trying too much on a cheap psu a while back, basicly its a gamble. Could work, might not, might take other crap with it when it goes...

A 600w OCZ GameXstream powered my Q6600 / CF 4850 system just fine - then again, OCZ is a much more trustworthy PSU maker than Vantec and I was probably starting to push the PSU's limits with that system... I upgraded to a 750w when I switched to 4870s.

Although that 600w MIGHT cut it, I think you should really consider upgrading to a 750w anyways as you'll probably need to the second you upgrade any component in your system....

I agree that the answer is Most definitely not.

A 4850 draws a lot less power than a 260

Says who? Is that the supposed (and always bloated) minimum power supply requirements for the GTX 260 in SLI? I bet you that Corsair's VX550W would be able to handle it.
