Default Advice, please :(

I need a big hand from all the fine members here.

I have an X2 3800+, BFG6600GT OC, 250GB sata hd, 2 gig (4X512) dual channel ram, antec cooling fan extra, and a simple 7-in-1 card reader.

Now, I only have a 350W psu, and its on 20 pins of the 24.

I was told I need a 24 pin psu.

I'm no expert, and certainly not knowledgeable enough to change this on my own, but I think I need more.

I was thinking 500W minimum, right? If not, plz let me know what I should get.

It's not really about wattage so much as you think. I'd say at least 480watts though.

What you really need to look for is the amperage on the 12v rail. I'd suggest at least 24a.

well you want a psu that is ATX2.0 compatable... that means it has the 24pin connector. You can get either a single or dual 12v rail psu. dual rails will help with stability, although sometimes they don't allow for as high an OC.

w/ your dual core cpu you'll want probably at least 30a on the 12v rail. A high quality 500w psu should be fine for your needs.

since your budget is 100CAD then i would suggest the sunbeam nuuo. it costs about 85USD so it should be right around your price rainge.
it has dual 12v rails and will have more than enough power for your system.
it is modular so it'll keep your case tidy... (even though I'm not a huge fan of modular psus)
it is SLI certified so if you ever upgrade you'll be all set

alright was checking sunbeams sight...both the 450w and 550w only have max output of 400w...and the outputs are slightly different. the 550 has higher wattages for the dual rails, while the 450w is just 20-30 watts lower. would the 450w be good enough for me if i never want to go sli? which i might someday, so i should buy that one, maybe...

what? the 550w nuuo can supply 35a combined on both 12v rails and a max of 420w just for the 12v rails alone.

I found this PSU while looking around a little earlier. I found out the NF4 boards seem to dislike 20 pin PSUs, so if I need one, this is the one I'll be going for.
