Alpenföhn Matterhorn

Posted

Pros: Good performance, Solid construction, Not too big, Great looks, PWM fan

Cons: Could be a tad cheaper, No socket 2011 support

Specs:
Size: 138 x 98 x 157 mm
Weight: 770g (no fan)
Fan: Single 120mm PWM-controlled fan (500-1500rpm)

Overall a very good cooler by a smaller and less known manufacturer. When I was testing it with a friend of mine against his NH-D14, the Matterhorn was around 4 degrees warmer than the D14. Not bad results from a heatsink of this size.

It comes with a single 120mm PWM-controlled Wing Boost fan and its performance was surprisingly good. It performed the same as the 120mm on D14 but was quieter at the same rpm. It has a special construction that is supposed to prevent it from resonating and keep it quieter overall.

One of the best purchases I've done as it performed better than I expected, has killer looks and didn't break the bank, even though you can get the Thermalright Silver Arrow for around the same price.

A new revision (Rev.B) came to stores a while ago which comes with an updated fan and some accessories.
