The reintroduction of Phenom
Pros: quad core, 65nm no TLB bug
Cons: Lacks overclocking potential
AMD released the first phenom processors which in conclusion had extreme overclocking issues. Not only overclocking issues but a TLB bug. Amd admited this flaw and began working to correct the issues. Acomplishing this goal, Phenom was reintroduced without a TLB bug. Coming in several chips. The Amd 9650 was designed as a 2.3ghz CPU. Overclocking wise stable with an Asus Motherboard only gave me about 100-200mhz increase with a Vcore Increase. The Phenom 9650 was designed to compete in the price range of Intels Wolfdale E8400 which had a high overclocking potential. Amd's marketing for this product was to compete with the E8400 getting a Quad Core over a dual core for a similar competitive price. Though the Phenom 9650 is slower than the E8400 Intel Dual Core the phenom was much cheaper. None the less the first introductions of the phenom quad cores from AMD did complete the first quad core line that the AMD enthusiasts were long awaiting after Intel had a quad core out for a while before AMD did.
