Assassin's Creed 2 Trailer

I had played the first Assassins Creed game on PS3 when it was released. Although it was a title that I really looked forward to play, it somehow failed to meet my expectations. The missions although were interesting at first, they later became repetetive and lacked soul. However Assasins Creed 2 is a different experience than the first one in every way.

Story: I will not tell you about the story because I do not want to give any spoilers but I can easily say that this game has a great story that combines many characters of the late 15th century such as Leonardo Davinci, Machiavelli etc...Whether you are into historical characters or not, the story has a great way of making you like it. Although the beginning of the game is not full of action and is kinda dull, the story does pick up after the first hour or so.

Graphics: The graphics of AC2 is solid and although there are not many options to customize, it still looks pretty good. Besides the textures, the city is alive and you feel like a part of the environment all the time. Each Italian city has its own character in design. One of the downside of the game in the graphics department is that the game was locked at 60 fps and I could not find a way to increase it. Maybe there is but I couldnt. Although 60 fps is a perfectly playable value, i would have liked to take advantage of my 120hz monitor. Another down side of the game graphics is that the textures sometimes load up late as if you are playing the game on a PS3. Also not so distant characters might load up late as well.

Gameplay : It is an open world game where you can go anywhere anytime. The platforming mechanics are fun and easy, and you do not really need a gamepad to control your character at the highest level. There are few annoyances while platforming but they are in an acceptable level. The fighting mechanism is also fun but its nothing challenging. There are also lots of collectibles throughout the game if you are into it. The result of collecting the collectibles will pay off as an armor or a weapon.

Sound : Voice acting is done brilliantly in the game, which plays a vital role of getting into the action more.

Length : The game will easily take over 20 hours of your time if you also do some of the side missions.

Multiplayer : N/A

Replay Value :1 playthrough was enough for me and I really cant see myself playing the game once more unless I have nothing else to play and enjoy the story once again many years later. Also once you finish the main story, you can roam around to do the rest of the unfinished side missions.

3DVision : The game is rated as "GOOD" in Nvidia Control Panel but honestly I believe it deserves an "EXCELLENT" rating. Yes there are sometimes ghosting also the shadows and few 2d objects are not rendered correctly but the experience is still lots of fun. Although you dont really gain advantages playing AC2 in 3D, you will enjoy playing so.

Price : The game can be purchased at 20$ on Steam at the moment and I believe this is a fair price if you want to get into the Assassin's Creed series. Also note that the Assassin's Creed series are usually on sale in every major sale event so you will probably find the game cheaper down the road. But again 20$ is still a very good price.
