great card to water cool!

review by blue dragon

Seen a lot of negative things said about these cards... I purchased two these that were discounted returns. First card worked great with no issues. did heat up, but was still cooler than reference 290's. I most likely wouldn't have modded them if it wasn't for the second 290 I picked up that was throttling due to core temp. I could have shipped it back but I'm stubborn and really didn't feel like hunting down another one so I removed the heatsink to find that one of the stand-offs for the shroud was not fully screwed into the heatsink. not only that, but it looked like it had originally been screwed into a different hole from the scrapes around the blank hole next to the suspect mount. Didn't bother replacing heatsink at this point, I already had my CM Seidon 120M and the screws I needed to do the ??? M?D after which the temps went down considerably. For anyone looking at this card, I would recommend if you are considering to water cool it.

ProsCons
backplate, VRM 1 heatsink, easy to modmodding voids warranty
