Pros: 8 ports, cheap, power-saving design, gigabit routing, VIP port, sleek looking
The port design on the back is well layed out with plenty of space between each port. Ports that are not in use will be turned off automatically in order to conserve power. Furthermore, the cable length of each port will be detected in order to determine the amount of power to be used. Shorter cables can be used with less power thereby decreasing power consumption. The front led lights indicate the link speed of each port - green for gigabit and amber for 100Mbps. The VIP port is useful to connect to a internet router which allows all the devices to be able to browse the internet at full speed even while heavy file transferring is going on on the other ports. The VIP gives maximum priority to the whatever traffic that is being directed through that port.
In terms of stability, this switch has been running for well over a month non-stop whilst hosting 4 devices. It is cool to the touch, but I suspect will get warmer if more ports are in use.
I am very satisfied with this purchase and plan to get another one (albeit the 5 port model) to further expand my network.
