Entry Level MOBO that gets the job done but barely

review by oldnerd

Impressions , cheap board in price and build quality.

  • BIGGEST issue is that the DDR slots 3&4 are too close to the CPU socket and prevent many HSF to mount (ex Hyper T4), even the Wraith Spire sits atop DDR #4 partially preventing removal without un-mounting the Wraith Spire. Had the mobo retention bracket been oriented 90 degrees (left-right) rather then top-bottom it would have solved the issue.
  • PCIE slots feel unsturdy and very thin and not well reinforced
  • VRM Heatsinks are loose and not well seated , theyt actually wobbled when manipulating the board to install.
  • SATA ports are placed oddly.

This mobo gets the job done and performs well. It is a cheap way to get into an AM4+ system without spending 2x for x370 but buyer beware. You def get what you pay for on this board. UEFI bios lacks thoughtfulness in layout and poor OC functionality for profiles. No POST code display or onboard diagnostics etc.

For under $100/USD this is about as good as it gets however. Most people here would be better served to wait and get another $50 to buy an X370.

Notice the STOCK AMD PROVIDED Wraith cooler covering DDR slot 4 below. Cable management wasnt a thought on this build for my lab however the board design doesnt make it easy either with the sata placement

ProsCons
Price, Availability, Many HSF will not work if DDR 3&4 are populated, Build Quality lacking, WEIRD SATA placement
