Solid little board

review by rawhide

Put this in a Mini ITX build for my son. This was a non-overclocked build so I can't comment on overclocking ability. Otherwise, has the usual very simple and well done ASUS BIOS, seemed to be pretty solid construction, and I had 0 problems with anything driver related or installing it. This included setting up RAID 0 with 2 SSDs. There are limits to things like only 2 RAM slots, one PCIe, and 6 SATA ports, but for this build those are all I would have been using anyway.

The wireless connectors were a bit of a pain to connect (very small) and popped off a couple times while installing, but once I got everything in place they seemed to say put just fine. On board sound was just fine for the needs of this build, but audiophiles may not be satisfied with it. It would have been nice if ASUS had put a little more thought into styling and looks, but that's hardly a deal breaker.

If you're looking for a Z97 Mini ITX and the above cons don't bother you, I'd say you can't go wrong with this one.

ProsCons
Mini ITX form factor, good onboard wireless and soundNot very attractive, wireless connectors very small
