Design

This case is really light due to its plastic molding. I really like how clean and simple the front of the case is. There are vents on the side of the case to allow direct airflow inside. you can see the be quiet! logo proudly labeled at the bottom. This is a nice touch and not too flashy. The curves and angles are subtle but add a craftsmanship to the case.

Highlights

Intelligent airflow for excellent cooling performance Unique concept for well-known be quiet! silence Two pre-installed be quiet! Pure Wings 2 fans Extensive capacity for high-end hardware Easy tool-free fitting and cable management.
  • Outstanding performance thanks to an innovative construction that assures excellent cooling efficiency and a perfect air circulation at well-known whisper-quiet operation
  • Excellent usability with simplest mounting and tool-free fitting of drives, an intelligent and adaptable cable solution, and air intake filters that are easily accessed for cleaning
  • Ample space and cutouts are provided for high-end components of today and tomorrow, including space for water cooling radiators
  • Two pre-installed Pure Wings 2 fans feature nine airflow-optimized fan blades and are decoupled from the case to circulate air with a minimum of vibration and the quietest possible operation; 3-step fan controller included
  • Side panel with double-glazed window provides a perfect view inside the PC system; the window is made from scratch and impact resisting material and offers a superb soundproofing
  • Professional cable management is supported with generous space for organizing cables, silicone rubber grommets, and carefully placed pass-throughs
  • Product conception, design and quality control in Germany
  • 3-years manufacturer?s warranty

This case also has fantastic color coordination. All the rubber grommets are grey to match the silver. This even includes the rubber HDD rails. Even the power button LED has white illumination to give a perfect cohesive color scheme. The reset switch is built into the HDD activity light below the power button, and can easily be pressed to reset your system.

The front panel connectors include:
  • USB ports- 4x ( 2x USB 2.0 & 2x USB 3.0)
  • Jacks - 2x 3.5 headphone & microphone
  • Fan controller- Set low /medium/high fan speeds
The fan controller is just under the front I/O ports, and worth pointing out how well of a design decision this was. It is easy to change the speeds, and perfectly concealed.

The front door opens at 90 deg, and can be swapped out to be used on either side. You can see the sound dampening material used for the inside of the door cover. This material is used throughout the case, and provides excellent noise reduction.

There is also a front dust filter. This filter easily slides in and out of the front shield.

The other dust filter is located underneath the case to protect the PSU. This slides out from the back, and both filters can easily be cleaned. These filters are well integrated into the design of the Silent Base 600. The power supply dust cover does cover most of the bottom making it difficult because it only slides out from the rear. This is problematic depending on the placement of your case.

The side window has its external protective layer of plastic. The polycarbonate window provides an extra layer of thickness to help reduce the amount of noise coming from the case.

The other side panel is fantastic as well. It has sound dampening material on the inside, and also provides a fan mount. I wouldn't put a fan here as it would open up more noise at the cost of airflow. I do like how the plate was designed with the be quiet! logo. It does add a nice design feature to make the panel stand out.

The top provides more ample airflow with ventilation ports. This will allow more air to exit through the rear.

Taking apart the panels and exposing the frame was relatively easy. I did have trouble taking the front panel off , and this should be re designed to make it easier to remove.

The Silent Base 600 does come with two fans. The front fan include is a 140mm be quiet! fan. It does support up to 2x 120mm or 140mm fans, however you can only mount the fans from the front outside frame. This can cause restrictive airflow. You can remove the HDD cage, but the frame is still pretty restrictive. There is no way to mount fans on the inside of the frame, making the airflow decent, but the restrictive elements make airflow limited.

The rear 120mm exhaust fan is also included from be quiet! I also want to point again, the rubber fan joints are grey to match the silver color scheme. Good job be quiet! with your attention to detail. The top of the case can support dual 120mm or 140mm inside the frame, but doesn't perfectly align with the top ventilation ports. You can also mount a fan on the floor for additional airflow, but I found that some PSUs do block these mounting points. The feet on the bottom are rather high, so if you do manage to mount a fan, you will have decent airflow.

This case is not water cooling friendly at all, and provides no real support for it. There are external water cooling holes in the back, but with how popular water cooling is there is no reason not to include this into the cases design. I suppose if you really wanted to you could put a rear 120mm AIO cooler on the rear, but this case was really designed for fans, and space is tight inside.

Assembly

Building inside the Silent Base 600 is really easy, and does provide really great cable management support. There does seem to be a small lack of modular ability, but this has been the most silent cases I have ever built in. The fans vastly contribute to this, and the audible feedback is near silent.

My favorite part besides the acoustics is the SSD 2.5mm drive mounting on the back of the motherboard tray. I wish more manufacturers would do this. I can't say how much I love this, and it helps keep the computer looking great, and provides easier cable management. It was really easy to mount my SSD, and almost all modular parts used thumb screws. Thank you be quiet! for the easy SSD installation. There is also another SSD mount on top of the HDD cage.

Not many people use DVD/CD drives anymore but the too-less design was really easy secure a drive in place.

Testing

I wanted to really test the acoustic performance of the Silent Base 600. I tested the acoustics with a high gain microphone for seeing how quiet this case really is. I am including a video to show how quiet the fans are on high.

be quiet! sticks to its name: More than ten years experience in the field of noise reduction and silence make be quiet! products probably the most silent one on the market.

Conclusion

Be quiet! has a nice case here but does have some negative aspects:
  • Lack of water cooling support
  • Difficult removal of some parts
  • Bottom mounted dust filter could be hard to access

There is alot to love about the Silent Base 600 due to its fantastic acoustic performance. The case provides unique performance and usability. be quiet! is justifiably famous for making some of the most technologically advanced, and absolutely the quietest, PC equipment available. True to the motto ?form follows function? the PC case Silent Base 600 Silver offers the perfect symbiosis of noise prevention and cooling performance, a good usability and an extensive capacity for high-end hardware.

the top features are:
  • Outstanding performance thanks to an innovative construction that assures excellent cooling efficiency and a perfect air-circulation at well-known whisper-quiet operation
  • Excellent usability with simplest mounting and tool-free fitting of drives, an intelligent and adaptable cable solution, and air intake filters that are easily accessed for cleaning
  • Ample space and cutouts are provided for high-end components of today and tomorrow, including space for water cooling radiators
  • Two pre-installed Pure Wings 2 fans feature nine airflow-optimized fan blades and are decoupled from the case to circulate air with a minimum of vibration and the quietest possible operation
  • Side panel with adjustable vent that can be closed for silent operation, partially open for increased air intake or open with an additional fan for higher cooling performance
  • Professional cable management is supported with generous space for organizing cables, silicone rubber grommets, and carefully placed pass-throughs
  • Form follows function principle maximizes performance; the look of the case is based upon its intended function and purpose
  • Product conception, design and quality control in Germany
I highly recommend this case for anyone who doesn't like noise for their primary gaming PC. My personal favorite part was the rear SSD mounting which contributes to excellent cable management. It has a few flaws, but is really well designed. Each case is sold in either orange/silver/red/black/green color accents. You can buy this case right now on the be silent! Newegg shop for $109 MSRP for standard version ( On sale is sometimes for $88), and the window version can be found for $119 ( On sale sometimes for $99).
