About
be quiet! power supplies are German product conception and design manufactured by Fortron. What you will find in these PSUs is basically a be quiet! Silent Wings fan and high quality/efficiency power conversion technology.

Review
The be quiet! Straight Power E9 400 W is a non modular 80Plus Gold certified PSU with up to 92.9% power conversion efficiency. Its Silent Wings fan is a 135 mm fan with a temperature dependent max. speed of 800 rpm. It has a PCI-E 6 pin and a PCI-E 6+2 pin connector which makes it possible to run almost any contemporary single GPU system with the E9 400 W.

Conclusion
That said you will be able to run a high gaming rig and also maintain most efficient idle power consumption. At low loads of about 15% or less the efficiency of a PSU drops significantly. By running a PSU with a low rating e.g. 400 W that 15% threshold is at 60 W. Do the math what happens when you run a 800 W PSU and your PC actually needs just 60 W at idle operation! You pay more to purchase a higher rated 800 W PSU and at the same time you may increase your electric bill.

I bought the be quiet! Straight Power E9 400W because it's ultra silent, highly efficient and it's all I need to run and overclock an i5-2500K and a GeForce GTX 670.

Pros
  • ultra silent (135 mm fan, temperature dependent max. speed of 800 rpm)
  • high efficiencies (load & idle)
  • inexpensive (60 € purchase price)
  • sleeved cables
  • can run GPUs with a PCI-E 6 pin + PCI-E 6+2 pin connector

Cons
  • no cable management
  • availability limited to Europe (distribution in the USA has been announced)

lol, you're review bit in longer than the conclusion!
Actually I didn't want to review it at all. But in order to include this PSU in my OCN rig and match it with a listed OCN component I had to first add this item to the OCN database, then list and review it so that I could take advantage of the "Product Match" feature in "Manage Rig". I didn't see any other way to make a missing product available for the Product Match.
