Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 69W Quad-Core Server Processor

Intel Xeon E3 1230V2 Review

TinDaDragon

Pros: Cheap, Hyper Threading, Great for the price

Cons: No iGPU, cannot overclock

I bought this processor from Microcenter for $210. After reading some reviews online, it seems to be a good processor. It has 4 cores with 8 threads due to hyper threading. It is essentially an i7 3770 without the integrated graphics. You cannot overclock this processor, however. It performs well for the cost and I like the Xeon branding. Sounds way cooler than "i5" or "i7" to me

“Decided to switch to a 3770k from a 2500k when I found a deal for $220 from a fellow OCN member. It is a delidled chip and I personally sanded (or polished) the aluminum plate on top of the cpu die and also the side that has contact with the CPU die itself with a 1500 grit sand paper. Temps with an EVO cooler has been excellent. ON STOCK settings IDLE temps are around low 20s and Highest temp...” --akbisw

“This by far the best bang for your buck when looking to build a gaming Rig. If you put the money into an aftermarket heatsink and OC you will not need a new CPU for many many years. This thing is simply a beast” --DarkChaos205

“Purchased several of these from the local Microcenter for use in my builds -- and have never been happier with performance and overclocking capabilities. Comfortably overclocked at 4.6GHz, the i7 2600K shows no sign of performance issues when playing some intense online games, or when working with resource intensive applications. The processor also has Intel Virtualization Technology Support,...” --vercomtech

AMD FX-8350 8-Core Processor 4.0GHz Socket AM3+ FD8350FRHKBOX

“The AMD FX-8350 is a very fast processor and handles my video rendering with ease, even at stock clocks. However, to really see the benefit of it you must have programs that use all eight cores (threads if you are using Windows). Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas both love this processor's extra capabilities and utilize it to its full potential. Single core performance is still quite...” --speedytech7

“Basically that's all I need from a CPU-a power house that will be handy when I need it. Besides the price, I have dysfunctional GPUs in my system (stupid seller doesn't want to replace them) and when they ain't working properly I have to shut down the whole shebang and can't use it for a while since there's no on-board GPU. Well, it's these 2 extra cores instead of the onboard GPU so I think...” --dominox64
