AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Eight-Core Desktop Processor

Great price/performance ratio... if everything is multithreaded

MatthewGB

Pros: 8 cores, 3.5GHz stock, overclocks very easily and well

Cons: 8 cores, 125W TDP, bad stock cooler

+ 8 cores - Need I say more + 3.5GHz --> 4.7 GHz OC - Overclocks very well (May vary based on silicon lottery) + Mutiplier unlocked - 8 cores - Difficult to use in most cases... most games use 2-3 cores max - 125W - Must replace stock cooler with anything - Bad stock cooler - What idiot put a tiny, tiny fan and made up for it with 5500RPM!? It's loud at idle, and a jet engine at full load.
Perform extremely well but need improvement

Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1150 Quad-Core Desktop Processor

“Enough of the jokes. I take Tom's "Best CPU" monthly articles literally...for gaming (of which I not much of a), "if you're not going to OC, you probably don't need more than a 4440.) And when I was looking of an i5 for this new build I'm now working on, I saw an offer of this i5-4440 for only $168 at NCIX, it seemed that it would do. Review is predicated on a damned good price basically....” --dennphill

Intel Pentium G2030 / 3 GHz processor

Intel Pentium G2030 / 3 GHz processor

“I had one of these 1155 Pentium CPUs for a year, give or take a few days. With 8 GB RAM and a Gigabyte GT 730 GPU added onto an ASRock H61M-VS4 Motherboard, the G2030 was quite capable of doing small 3D renderings in TurboCAD, and it can handle older games like Xcom and the UT series, though not on hi-res. There was also no problem with movie watching, (as long as all necessary codecs are...” --Kosenator

“Gotta love ppl not real 8 cores when in fact it is it's a 4 modules cpu with 2 cores in each modules that share resources get over it it's a 8 core and AMD came out with it first now Intel will come out with one. Mine OC great runs well with a h212 OC n the winter with push n pull but really loves to be on water when room temp is hot. At 4ghz my h212 had no problems even when my room had no AC...” --STRATUSRT02

Intel Core i7-4790K Processor- BX80646I74790K

“I have to say that overall I am extremely pleased with my i7 4790k purchase and it's performance. It is so incredibly fast, and is actually just a hair shy of a $500 i7 3930k in most tasks which says a lot. That really is a big deal for a $300 proc. The 4790k idles strangely cool, in the low 20's (C) with my Corsair H80i, and is about 8-10C cooler than an i7 4770k at idle all things being...” --hapkiman

Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile P8400 2.66GHz Socket P 25W Mobile Processor

The 45nm processor spec goes mobile with the Core 2 Duo P8400. You get top end notebook performance while drawing only 25W. Lower power means lower heat and longer battery life without taking a performance hit. Intel was also able to pack more features into the chip. This is boosted by the Intelligent Power Capability which manages CPU power loads to further increase battery life.

AMD FX-8320E 3.2GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Desktop Processor

“I'll start by saying that yes, I am aware that the AM3 platform is dead, but this is a great processor for those looking to build a rig on a budget. I initially picked this 8320e up at Microcenter and paired it with an ASRock 970 Extreme 3 motherboard for $129.99. The combo provided a decent experience as I had the 8320e overclocked to 4.4ghz, 1.4235 volts. Any higher than that and the VRM's...” --Xylonjay
