Cooler Master 690 III Mid Tower Case

Posted

Pros: Better radiator support, plenty of air cooling, stylish looks.

Cons: Only supports 240mm radiators, personal item storage department.

This is the successor to Cooler Masters 690 II. It has better water cooling options, better HDD cage setup and cable management, looks better (IMO) and is still mid tower size.

If you were to go air cooling, you can go 2x 120mm, 2x140mm or 200mm fan at the front as well as the top. There is a 120mm spacing at the rear and bottom along with space for a 120mm on the hard cage if configured properly.

My self, I went water cooling, this case allows for two 240mm radiator up to about 45mm thickness with the use of 25mm fans, at the front and top. You could fit a 200mm radiator at the front and a 120mm radiator at the rear if you wish.

It has dust filters, which are all pretty easy to remove, on the bottom (for the PSU and fan), behind the front grill and on the top panel mesh as well.

It comes with (well mine did) two side panels, one is a lovely looking smoked plastic window which is just big enough to show of my hardware, but not the hard drive or 5.25" bays. The other one is a steel panel which can accommodate 2x 120mm, 2x140mm or a 200mm fan, this would be very useful if extra cooling or exhaust is needed, especially around the GPU area.

It comes with the standard I/O ports for a new case on top, 2x USB 3.0 + 2x USB 2.0 + headphone and microphone ports along with power and reset buttons. They are located under the cover to the personal storage area compartment. Which IMO I would of rather seen removed and room for a extra fan or 360mm up top.

Some people will miss the hot swap bay from the 690 II, but I am not one of them. Some people will feel limited by the fact that there is only 3x 5.25" bays, but I will not.

I personally find it hard to fault this case for a Mid tower, but some may have a different opinion. I believe this will be very similar to the 690 and 690 II it will be a case that is around for many years to come. Many people will buy and use them, and many more will buy and mod them. biggrin.gif
