Great for smaller cases.

review by lady fitzgerald

The biggest advantage to this cooler is it provides much better cooling than stock coolers in cases that are too small to accept 120mm coolers. Installation is a bit tricky on X79 MOBOs; in tight cases with an X79 MOBO, the cooler will need to be installed with the MOBO out of the case. The overhang part of the cooler will clear all but the tallest RAM modules.

The 120mm fan that comes with the cooler is adequate and isn't too noisy when wound up to full speed. It does look a bit cheesy, though. The stainless steel band that shows around the 120mm fan screams 1950s automobile chrome overload. A 140mm fan will fit without any modification. The aforementioned stainless steel band blocks most additional airflow from a larger fan, however.

Despite my complaints, I'm happy with this cooler since it was the only decent CPU cooling solution I could find at the time for my extended ATX X79 MOBO in my little Antec Two Hundred V2 case (yeah, it's tight in there but I didn't have room for a bigger case). Despite the fact it wouldn't move much more air, I replaced the stock 120mm fan with a much nicer 140mm fan that matched the colors of my case fans (black with white blades) and covered up that hideous stainless steel band.

ProsCons
Will fit in smaller cases.Unless mounted with the overhanging portion pointing away from RAM, it will block access to RAM. Cooling isn't the best.
