My experience of the Cooler Master R4 case fan (also known as Sickleflow)
review by sandythedog
I have six of these fans cooling my CM-690-II Advanced and they look great, they also move enough air to keep my components cool. I have them attached to my Lamptron FC-4 fan controller (two on each channel with one spare) and this is the only thing that stops me from going insane.
two fans make a very high pitched whine when operating, at full RPM it is almost unbearable and the most I can set these fans to is ~70&. Another two make a distinctly audible clicking sound when they get above 60-70%.
The two fans that are normal are OK but still have clicking issues after prolonged use, they are fairly load but keep my case cool. I'm quite disappointed with this product in contrast to my case, Hyper 212+ and two push/pull PWM fans installed on it of which I have no complaint.
Verdict: I do NOT recommend this fan.
NOTE: I purchased this fan on Amazon.co.uk for ?8.99.
Pros
Cons
Sleek appearance (imo) with semi-transparent plastic and a solid housing, no cheap plastic here. Also moves a fair amount of air.
4/6 of my fans make irregular noises and the two that dont are just loud.
Ran one as an exhaust fan and only lasted 3 months.
Bearing oil all over the sides of the fan housing.
Replaced with Noiseblocker XLP PWM.
