Good Hardware..

review by ozrek

This is a very strong power supply, and quiet. Probably only of the best out there. One of the reasons I purchased it was the corsair link wattage monitoring software. On most systems, this probably works without too much issue, however, on X79 chipsets firmware 2.2 doesn't work well with RSTe 3.5 and higher. Firmware 2.1.7 and below do work ok with RSTe 3.0 and similar RSTe drivers.

Pros
Completely Modular
Silent mode when no load
Virtual Multi-Rail via Software
Cables are ample
Ideal for Quad SLI

Cons
Extremely long
Expensive
Software Issues

ProsCons
Nice powerbad software

Unsupported junk software, coil whines

review by boristhespider

http://www.overclock.net/t/1324891/corsair-deny-all-knowledge-ax1200i-software-broken-probably-applies-to-ax860i-and-ax760i-as-well should tell you all you need to know about the standard of customer support that Corsair provide. In my case, none whatsoever.

I've seen a lot of reports of loud coil whine from these. Mine does coil whine, and it's very irritating, however I suspect I have one of the quieter ones (or my hearing at the high end of the spectrum is less sensitive than some peoples) because it is generally tolerable as long as the side is on the case, however I brought it partially because it should be very quiet (at low loads, the fan doesn't run at all), so it's a shame when the fan is completely off and therefore totally silent that the peace and quiet I paid for is often ruined by the coil whine.

What on earth were they thinking making a 1200w PSU at the ludicrous end of the price spectrum, and not making provision for quad-SLI or quad-fire in the cabling? This comes with 3 PCIe outputs (with 2x 6+2 on each output) so three GPUs uses up all the PCIe power. Are people buying PSUs at this price really going to use MOLEX adapters? When it first came out, Corsair promised a neat, braided splitter so that one of the PCIe outputs could be split providing for 4 GPUs - I emailed them as instructed to request one of these, and was never replied to, which again about sums up the level of service that can be expected from these clowns.

ProsCons
The PC turns onSoftware is useless, Corsair are rude and unsupportive, 1200w PSU without suitable cables for quad-sli/quadfire

Best PSU for Cost/Performance, IMO.

review by masked

I run 2 of these in my Quad-SLI rig.

0 coil whine...

Software has worked well for me, not without "some" problems but, not a bad experience, either.

When I called in about my issues (I purchased these on day 1 of launch...The moment they were put up) I was forwarded to the gentleman that wrote the software and spoke about my issues -- I was glad to see them fixed in a later "update".

I love these power supplies and would recommend them to absolutely anyone.

ProsCons
Great PSU, Software is easy to monitor, excellent CS from Corsair.Cables not included for Quad SLI
