Something different

I didnt need a new case, I even had plans for my old case, but then I saw this on my regular PC parts supply site, and promptly hopped in the car, drove 20 mins, then came home with a big box

Ill start with saying that I was impressed at the difference in the quality of packaging of a Corsair case. Foam top and bottom, and instead of the plastic bag that im used to, i found it to be in a black cloth type bag, quite a nice touch. Inside the case was the usual manuals, all the mounting hardware, and the M/B stand off pre installed too. Everything went straight in, no messing around, and I must say, there is decievingly more room in here than you might think. Possibly this is because all the cables are in the rear compartment of the case, even with all the cables just bunmched in there, there was still more than enough room for more. The foot print is larger, and something to get used to, the stock fans than come with it are quite nice, for free fans anyway lol. In terms of modding potential, it depends how far you want to take it, but the idea of managing the cables well, with custom lengths, all sleved so that you have minimal clutter in the rear, then running a custom loop with the pumps and res in the rear, re-locate the HDD's, get a second window side panel, and then all of a sudden you have something that is worth showing off from both sides, a whole extra dimension to case modding. In terms of water cooling, as is it supports a 360mm rad and a 240mm rad, or 2 280mm rads, but I recon the potential is there for something like a pair of 280's side by side on the top. Over all, a solid 9/10, and only because I'd have like to see a couple of 3.5" drive bays in the rear compartment, there would be more than enough room for them, and if it wasnt for the face that i'm aiming for silent computing, i'd already made plans to butcher my old case for it's 3.5 bays to go in, but im in the process of a NAS box now.

ProsCons
Unique style, easy cable management, huge modding potentialOnly 2 3.5" drive bays, vertical 5.25" bays

Something different

I wonder if anyone has install their z97 computer parts into an old Pentium 4 case. I think its not do-able because of the new psu size.

I also got the same silver air 540,
* added an old temperature sensitive variable rpm 80mm as an exhaust fan in the psu bay grill
* found out you have to lift the 3.5 into the hot swap connectors while sliding in
* I stuck the more 3.5 into 5.25 bays, put my blu ray into an external drive
* I don't have all the fans hooked up but its running cool under low load testing
* I will add an m.2 drive this month
* to come: gpu, sdd, replace old 3.5 when they break down, etc

Compare the experience with a tower, this case is much easier to manage, its lighter and the weight is distributed

but I look forward to a bitfenix Atlas
