So much cable management...

review by obikenobi27

Pros: The second case I have owned and I love it. The case is equipped with three Corsair fans which deliver plenty of airflow and are quiet enough for the average person. The cable management is amazing. The PSU gets mounted behind the motherboard in a sideways fashion and you have just over an ATX PSU width to manage all of your cables. Another great aspect of the case is how much storage you can use. You can fit two 3.5? HDDs in sort of ?hot swap? bays (The SATA power and SATA cables are routed through the motherboard tray with a passthrough). On the back, however, you can fit up to four 2.5? drives in a drive cage. This actually wouldn't make a bad NAS. This case is also extremely easy to build in since most of the components can be installed with sturdy, tool-less mechanisms and the motherboard standoffs are pre-installed for an ATX motherboard (You do have to install standoffs for micro-ATX boards as I have found). The HDD and SSD bays are also very simple to use and installing my 5.25? components was just as simple as sliding the face in until it was flush.

Cons: First of all, I have a micro-ATX motherboard with only two extra fan headers. This case comes with three fans (3-pin thank goodness). I am now ordering a fan splitter from Amazon and wondering why this case didn't include one. This is a ?High Airflow ATX Cube Case? that is ?Ideal for Advanced Air Cooling and Water Cooling? (Corsair website). If this case is used as advertised, the build would probably use at least three fans if not more for radiators or after-market CPU coolers that use more than one fan. A fan controller is required in this case and they failed to deliver. My other gripe deals with how the pre-installed SATA cables (that cannot be changed without modifications) are not right-angle connectors. When my particular motherboard has a graphics card installed, there is no way to plug in SATA cables unless they are right-angle connectors. Because of this issue, I have lost two of my SATA ports for normal connectors. I cannot expand my storage any further without modifying the cables themselves.

Other Thoughts: This case is amazing to build in, but the lack of a fan splitter and right-angle connectors frustrates me just enough to keep from giving a perfect score. The SATA cable issues are understandable. Not many people have my particular issue, but the lack of a fan controller feels like a missed opportunity. Even if your motherboard does have enough fan headers, nobody wants to string fan leads around their motherboard in a windowed case.

ProsCons
lots of space, cable management dream, easy to build inno fan controller, dvd drive was rough to get in
