Pros: Fair price, pump nearly silent, cools very efficiently, handles heat spikes better than air, can change led color and fan speed
Cons: Unbearably loud OEM fans at 38db, block surface not lapped smooth.
Install was as easy as any air cooler for me. I'll never understand why some reviewers elsewhere had such a difficult time with it. I did not use the pre-applied square of thermal interface material, I never do that on principle. I applied Tuniq TX-4 which has often been reviewed as providing the lowest temps, biggest temp difference, and best performance... It was my very first use of it so I'm not biased at all. Any modern TIM will be fine.
The included fans are garbage. Let me be a little clearer, the included fans are louder than my vacuum cleaner. Even at the very lowest possible speeds, they were still very noticeable inside my oem sound-deadened Fractal Design case even with all my added sound deadening and even using fan silencers and rubber washers.
I quickly upgraded to Cougar PWM Hydro-Dynamic-Bearing fans which are 17.9db at highest speed. They are absolutely silent at mid or low speeds. The temperatures even went down! You do need PWM fans if you want them to be controlled by the Corsair pump.
Well I love it and I would buy another one in a heartbeat. I haven't had to do anything with it other than change fans. Zero maintenance is what I like! No fiddling with tubes, fittings, leaks, refills, expensive pumps with no features, reservoirs, or other constant attention. This needs no attention after install
