The lights that could? Now the Lights the CAN!!
Pros: Effects are cool
Cons: Uses 2 USB ports
I Just got a set of these today, I was hyped, they were packed nicely, It took awhile to get the drivers installed, since it wanted to update over and over again.
Buyer beware: To get maximum lighting effects the “Cyborg amBX Gaming Lights” must be placed facing a wall behind your computer monitor, or other objects similar in size. Without the critical placement your lights will look like a airplane runway blinking. First off I attempted to use the lights with music player , that's when I found out their only compatible with MicroSoft Media Player!, Winamp, other Popular Media Player apps such as iTunes, Google music, and Spotify, are not supported at this time. Many popular games like BF3, are also not fully supported, meaning the colors flash, but not in sync with battle (i.e. red for taking damage). eh?,” isn’t this is the real reason for purchasing these lights?”, after doing more research I also found out most of the supported games are only supported with blinking lights, Not motion (i.e. Rumble or Wind effects), these are add-on hardware devices.
Over the next few days I will installed some of the fully supported games to see how well the effects work, so stand by for an updated. On a positive note there's a dev kit, so we should expect to see lots of mod coming out in the new future. I checked out the forums hosted by the amBX, and there's a lot of activity, but mostly around music, support, so if you want a Disco go ahead and purchase. Don't get me wrong many games are supported just not with the full amBX effects available to movies. I can only dream that Diablo 3 will get supported, can you imagine walking through a dungeon and the murky shadows come tp life with these babies. Anyway stay tune for more info on the lights that Might!!..
