Perfect simcade racing game which is worth a look.

review by iardas

Story : You are the legendary racing driver who takes on their opponents in pursuit of trying to make the world a better place and marry the girl of your dreams.

Ok it is just a regular racing game that you just race and try to beat other AI controlled or human controlled cars. Thats it.

Graphics :

+ Fantastic even for console standards.
+ Weather effects are the best I have seen in any racing games (this includes any current PC games too)
+ Cockpit view is detailed and well done makes you wish that the VR headsets arrive sooner.
+ 30 fps that feels extremely smooth. Yes racing games are better at 60fps (probably all games) but this game will make you forget the argument because of it`s smoothness.
+ Fantastic looking cars
+ Fantastic looking tracks

Gameplay :

+ You truly feel the speed and truly feel the adrenaline while racing
+ 6 camera modes that you can play with depending on your choice.
+ Currently over 150 events where you try to get full stars. (DLC events included)
+ In most races you do not have to get all three stars in one race. You can get them one by one in each race.
+ Ingame social events such as average speed face off, drifting face off is an excellent way to beat friends or strangers record on that particular event and track on a particular area makes the game interesting.
+ Simcade game. The game does not want to be a simulation and physics are not 100% realistic but not unrealistic as well.
+ Driveclub is made by the company who brought us the Motorstorm series on the PS platforms. Imagine Motorstorm but with real tracks and cars with a better gameplay.
+ A lot of DLC support with the season pass that makes the season pass a worthy purchase.
+ More cars expanding the car collection with each DLC
+ Playing the game with a gamepad is extremely fine. No need for a wheel purchase unless you want to get into the game more.
+ Different game modes such as racing, drifting, hot lap...

- No weather effects on the main events. It comes out with a free update but the tracks that have official events with weather effects are part of paid DLCs. ( You can still create non official events with weather effects and send them to friends with the core game though.)
- Core game does not have a lot of different cars. Mainly US and Japanese cars are missing.
- Some US cars are added to the game such as Corvette and Viper but Japanese cars are still missing.
- Personal con but no Lamborghini

- No customizations besides liveries and colors of the car.

Audio :

+ Top Notch. Fantastic surround effects
+ Cars sound incredible

Multiplayer:

+ Trying to take the best score from your friends` hands is incrediblly well done.
+ You can send official and custom events to friends and see if they can beat it.
+ You can also challange other clubs and see if your club can make the best time on the track.

- Even patch after patch the servers are not fully stable all the time. There are still some issues
- Online racing is all about others trying to hit your car so that you get out of the track. Surely the other party gets a few seconds of penalty but to be honest online racing is not something you should really invest a lot of time into.
