Fallout: New Vegas

An excellent addition to the revived Fallout series, Obsidian wanted to make a Fallout game keeping the standard set by Bethesda with Fallout 3, but at the same time, bringing back some of the dark humor and role-playing elements that made everyone fall in love with the first two Fallout games.

Fallout: New Vegas achieves just this, and offers significant improvements over Fallout 3. It's much less buggy and will probably never crash on you. The new weapon mods system and iron sight function help tremendously, and with all of the DLC and a few mods, it has MUCH more guns than any shooter. Even more than ArmA 2: Combined Ops with ACE 2.

Don't even bother playing this game unmodded: get all of these. This will bring life back to the game, both literally and figuratively. By default, this game's open world design is quite bland compared to Fallout 3. There are less interesting locations and is much, much more safe and welcoming which is not something I desire. But with those mods, the game will contain some of the most interesting and brutal places in the entire series. The graphics mods, especially Project Reality, will improve atmosphere a lot. And EVE is just... amazing.

This game is a better RPG than Fallout 3, and many other recent RPGs. There's more decision-making that have greater impact on the game, both on smaller scale and large scale. The new faction reputation system is wonderful and helps with role-playing. Like Fallout 3, New Vegas is a must have, especially if you don't want to deal with the instability of FO3.

I Strongly believe that Fallout New Vegas is one of the greatest games in our Era, with its several hundred hours of fun, brilliant visuals, and free storyline, what's there to lose? The game, Released by Bethesda in 2010 is Primarily a Role playing First person/Third person shooter, and is extremely unique and belongs to a small genre of Free-World RPG games, along with GTA/Saints row games, and many similar, which gives it a good feeling. The things which make this distinctively different is the literal open world, which doesn't confine the gamer to a small city, like in the previously mentioned games.

The standout posative which makes this on the AAA List of my games, and easily on my top ten would be the way it is structured around towns, and the general storyline. I Can't agree with the begining, involving surviving a gunshot to the head, except the entire way the story is lined out gives the player an opportunity to sample everything the game has to offer over a longer period of time, making the confined storyline fairly long and at the same time, constantly entertaining with the introduction of many new characters, and optional quest lines that the player can take, including some of the following (Trying not to release much detail and spoil the game here):

The Khans; A Group of what we would see as a "Bikey Gang"
The NCR (New California Republic); Leading presence as an Army ruling over the post apocalyptic Nevada
"House" : The ruler of the New Vegas city zone
Caesers Leigon: (Pronounced Kay-Ser) another major "Gang" so to speak, fighting the NCR
And many many more, all with their own quest line.

I Think another feature, which is fairly unique in the Bethesda games is the more personalised characters, where most of them have a quest to offer, or a piece of dialogue which may be needed, and gives the feeling that everyone has a story to tell, which to me is a major sellpoint besides the actual game engine its self.

The engine used is common among Bethesda games, being the Gamebyro engine. The outstanding way in which they use this makes it both afirst person and third person game, which i personally loved because i can't get enough 3rd person gameplay. Paired with the extremely nice graphics, the game is set out to be one of the best of its kind, and all of this in an extremely low requirement game (I play this on my ultrabook copingly). The engine does have ts faults, and the maps designed paired with these faults can lead to a pain in the ass for some of the players, leading to sinkholes, or the dead body of a raider smashing into you, somehow causing you to ragdoll from one side of the map to the other, except most of these issues are fixed with patches, which as we can all see will cause more errors as they come along (Skyrim also does this). The maps themselves are actually massive, like they're really really big! It takes me some time to get from one side to the other, i actually haven't had the time to complete this journey, but it goes to show the sheer size of the map. And this isn't just black spots inbetween, the maps are fulled to the brim with small nooks and crannies which make up a fun side-adventure, to find many hidden objects, and many different little things to make the game have an endless cycle of fun.

Modding the game is made exttremely easy with the simple ability to either download mods through Steam, or many other third party programs, or simply place them in the Fallout folder, and open them in the Launcher. Now with this said, the game has literally unlimited things to do, with myself playing many hours a week of this game, and still not completing some of the quests which are included in the side-stories, and mods.

In closing i would like to say that this game is easilly a 4.5 Star game, the only downfall being the lack of fixes for some outstanding bugs in the game. ( Please go easy, first review )
