Homefront Trailer
I picked up Homefront in a 50% sale on steam which cost me 25 US dollars and I could not be happier. I always wanted to grab this game when it was released, but i never had the time do so.
Story : A few years later from now, North Korea becomes a major power in the world and occupies most of the countries in the world. At last they make their way to USA and occupies them as well. People can no longer continue with their lives as they are forced to obey the North Korean rules, and if not they get killed without hessitation. You fight as a resistance fighter and with the help of your fellow Americans, you try to get rid of the North Korean forces to give hope to the rest of the nation. The single player campaign is fun and to be honest there are some intensive moments throughout the game.
Graphics : I personally liked the graphics of Homefront on the highest settings. It was nothing marvelous however it was good. The game also takes advantage of the Ambient Occlusion feature. Everything maxed it ran around 80-90 fps with my 590. I did not notice any major graphical glitches within the game.
Gameplay : It is your typical FPS game where nothing has been done to change the core gameplay. As far as I know the game also uses the Call of Duty engine but do not quote me on that. There are arsenal of weapons and few vehicles that you can drive in the game but thats pretty much it.
Sound : I can say the samething about the sound quality of Homefront as I said in Graphics quality. Its nothing special but it is pretty good. I liked the explosion and gunfire sounds a lot, also the characters were dubbed just fine.
Length : The Single Player can be completed within few hours so do not expect to be hooked by the single player.
Multiplayer : Multiplayer is where Homefront shines the most. Although there are few maps and game modes it is pretty entertaining. There are lots of unlockables such as guns and etc,,, so the game will keep you busy. Level 75 is the highest you can reach in the multiplayer, so it will take you somewhile to do so. After each kill you earn points for that round, and you can use those points to call in airstrike, ammunition, use vehicles and other stuff like that so it is pretty fun. The downsides are that at the moment the multiplayer is not so crowded. There is hardly 100 people playing the game, but you will always find veterans whom will enjoy a round or two every now and than. Do not waste your money on the DLC map packs as noone plays them at the moment, but for a heck of a fun, grab the shotgun DLC for pure ownage in the battefield.
Replay Value : Although I can not see myself playing the Single Player again, unless i want to experience it one last time in the future, the multiplayer makes me come back to the game even after a month long absence.
3Dvision : The game is rated as "GOOD" in Nvidia Control Panel and i believe it is spot on. I enjoyed the single player campaign in 3d, especially the crosshair was 3D compatible which is always an issue with most of the titles, however there were shadow and shader problems at times that bothered my eyes. This causes problems in Multiplayer and i try to avoid playing Homefront in 3D when I am online. But the single player campaign is worthy of a single 3D playthrough.
Price : As I said earlier i paid 25$ for this game on a Steam sale few months back and this is what the game deserves at max. I can see people whom purchased the game for 50$ being dissapointed. Right now the game can be found at 20$ on Steam, and that is not a bad price. However Homefront is usually on a sale in every 2 months so you can easily find the game cheaper than 20$ and you should grab it and experience the SP and maybe play a few rounds of MP.
