Amazing surface

review by allen86

I had a buddy of mine telling me about his Icemat for a couple years now, and I've been needing a new mouse pad. I've been pretty skeptical of it, though he seemed pretty set on it being THE BEST mouse pad ever made. He believed so much in it, he was nice enough to actually buy one for me.

Before you buy this pad. . .please do the research before you complain that you got it and your mouse didnt work on a glass surface. . you can't fault the icemat for a mouse that doesnt work on glass. With that said, I've heard of tracking issues with certain mice, but with a little research I found that the Logitech G9 (my mouse)tracks excellent on it. This is basically a mouse pad for high DPI gaming mice. .at low DPI I notice I do get some tracking hickups when I move my mouse across it fast. At 800 DPI I get tracking issues when moving it pretty fast (almost unncessarily fast), but at 1200 DPI i have no tracking issues. Again its not a fault because this is a mousepad made for high DPI mice. . at high dpi it tracks EXCELLENT! (even at low dpi as long as you're not trying to do a 360 in an fps in less than a second at really low dpi).

The surface on it is just amazing, its pretty much perfect I'd go as far to say. It's not too slick but not too controlled, the mouse glides but it doesn't feel like an out of control puck on an air hockey table, It's literally just perfect. The only thing is you have to keep it clean. A small grain of dirt or the like can quickly be driving shrills up your spine giving you that familiar feeling of drawing your fingernails across a chalkboard. Just keep a bottle of Windex and a cloth nearby, it'll come in handy. Speaking of surface, it looks the part as well, the best way I can describe it is. . .elegant.

Another thing I like about it is it's not going to wear out. 5 years from now, it will still have the same surface as when I first took it out of the box. .so really it pays for itself in the long run. All other surfaces will get bends in them, wear out, get scratches in them, dirt caked on them, etc. .icemat will stll be chilling

(pun intended) Given you don't break it throwing a fit. On that note, it isn't a mouse pad for people who throw temper tantrums. .you'll obviously break it slamming your fist into it.

Overall, awesome mouse pad, I'm very glad my friend talked me into trying it and even buying it for me. Works great on all the games I play and can honestly say I've seen great improvements in tracking and accuracy from my old flimsy plastic mat. Also, being its discontinued and there's literally no other glass mouse pads on the market. .its quite a pleasure to use something so unique. It's definitely a joy to use.

Words can't really describe how nice these things are and it's a shame that they are discontinued.

ProsCons
Wear resistant, extremely smooth surface, heavy, looks amazingBreakable, some mice have tracking issues on glass surfaces, coarse surface results in more wear and tear on mouse feet
