Q9550

review by polska

Handles everything I do on my PC, from movies, games, photo editing, computer art, encoding. Great multitasker, doesn't bog down.

The processor is still fairly expensive given that its an older generation. It will be cheaper if you are still on an LGA775 board though so definitely something to consider if you are not ready for a full rig overhaul!

I own 2 of these and was able to overclock both to 4+ Ghz. My current one has been running like a dream for 2 years, and I don't expect to give it up any time soon!

ProsCons
great overclocker, 4 cores, can still handle anything you throw at itPrice

This processor is great for those who are still stuck on 775

It plays all the latest games (Skyrim, BF3, WoW, etc.) with no issues at all when paired with my gtx480.

It had no problem getting to 3.5 GHz but my motherboard was restricting anything past that. 4.0 and above is easily achievable.

If anyone who still likes socket 775 this is defiantly an upgrade you should consider.

ProsCons
Cheap, Can handle anything I throw at it, Overclocks well. Can be expensive depending on where it was purchased.

Ran this chip for 3 years it cost a fortune but have just said goodbye to it when i got a new rig last month. CPU fan/heatsink was a akasa freedom tower.

ran at 2.8gHz for 2days 28c temp ave
3.2GHz for 2 years 32c temp ave
and 3.6Ghz 37c temp ave

This is one of my all time favorite processors it tough overclocks well, it was expensive, but has remained stable as anything for years and ran everything i threw at it.

Great CPU, Still hangs well with the new CPU's

review by pimpskyline

Got this CPU to replace my Q6600, and i am glad i did, got her up to 4.3Ghz thanks to my awesome CPU Cooler and UD3P Mobo. She can still handle all games at Max Settings and 1080P. Can even do Crysis 3 at 43-89 FPS paired with a OC GTX 580.

Does 4.3Ghz @ 1.43V and 61C. Was easy to OC, just increased the FSB and Volts to match and done.

The x8.5 Multi threw me off from my x9 Q6600 and my older E4500's x11, but i got the RAM knocked out and she runs great.

It's a great buy if you want to max out your 775 Rig

ProsCons
Powerful CPU, Pretty cheap depending on where you buy it, Easy to OCOnly bad thing to say, this is a Older CPU, so it's days are numbered sadly. Also the x8.5 is annoying when your use to x9/x11

Great overclocker, 4 cores, can handle anything you throw at it. Solid chip. Paired with with DDR 3 Samsung wonder ram and an Asus P5E3 Deluxe it performs well, don't think i'll be getting rid of it any time soon.

ProsCons
Great overclocker, 4 cores, can handle anything you throw at it. Solid chip.none
