Intel Core i3-2100 Processor 3.1GHz 3 MB Cache Socket LGA1155

A friend of mine's PC died, so he asked me to build him something on the cheap. I knew he played WoW, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, and this processor seemed like a great fit. The intel HD 2000 graphics handle those games at acceptable framerates, and for the pricepoint it cannot be beat. I highly recommend it for budget builds, where you may add a discrete video card later, but need your fix of games now

Purchased for the Step Son's build for Xmas - the i3-2100 is a great performer for only being a dual core processor with Hyper-Threading

This processor has a similar level of output in benchmarks to the AMD Phenom x4 B55, with a lot less wasted heat and power draw. It also out performs a number of older Quad Core processors from Intel and AMD in tasks such as media encoding, and performs extremely well when playing games, with comparable and better performance to an AMD Phenom x6 1090T in FIFA 11 and Starcraft II

In Conclusion the i3-2100 is a pretty good processor, capable of good performance in a number of areas, despite it's locked clocks

Great for HTPC, Games and a bit of Media Encoding, it's a jack of all trades and definitely worth a look for the non enthusiast on a budget

Awesome CPU for the price.

I have this in my dad's build/server and it handles everything perfectly. It can easily handle streaming data from one PC to another while having 2 HD movies streams running at once.

It can even run games at a higher FPS than most of the AMD quad cores!

If you are looking for a great low to mid end build grab one of these!
