Could instead just get the 530

Pros: Great the casual user

Cons: Exactly the same as previous models. Financial loss for overclockers

This CPU is recommended for users whom do not intend to do any overclocking. The reason for this is that the plausible performance reachable is exactly the same as that from the 540 and the 530 alike; they are the same CPUs, only with slightly different stock multipliers. An average, or even beginner overclocker can easily OC an 530 or an 540 to perform exactly the same as this 550. The heatsinks are the same. Differences: 530 multiplier is x21 540 multiplier is x23 550 multiplier is x24 Minor FSB boost to either 530 and 540: $$$ saved.
