Pros: Fast, Overclockable, PPD, Cool

Cons: Lacks HyperThreading

This is a brilliant CPU: it's not too terribly expensive, it's fast, and it overclocks insanely well: running up to 4.4GHz is easy for the two chips I've witnessed even with no prior overclocking experience.

It nets a good amount of PPD in Folding@Home, and though this could be higher with HT, it's pretty affordable relative to other options. I've had it for close to a year and haven't once regretted getting it: it's handled all tasks well and hasn't given me grief for folding 24/7 on it at 4.6GHz.

It's not hot: I've seen a 212+ cool a 2500K at 4.4GHz (didn't get the voltage) without breaking a sweat.

All-in-all, a great chip. We'll have to wait for solid IB benchmarks, but I'm betting the 2500K will be lasting for a few years yet.

I already have mine! All I'm missing is my board that is going to arrive tomorrow I hope I got a good one since I'm going to have some fun with it!
The cheapest I've seen this chip sold for was $200 CAD during Summer 2011. Intel rips people off by jacking up the prices.
I agree. One hell of a overclocker! Great Bang for the buck! I bought my 2500k back in September. The first one I got was a Malaysia chip and it hit 4.4 pretty easy but started to have issues past that. I took it back because I thought it was causing a buzz through my speakers. Turns out the variable voltages were causing the buzzing. Once I locked down the voltage to 1.34 it stopped buzzing. Anyway, I ended up with a CotaRica chip and it hits 4.5 easy with a fancy thermaltake fan. Loving it!
I haven't OC'd mine at all yet haha

It runs just as expected handling everything you throw at it.
Mines OC to 4.5ghz but i lowered it down to 3.3 when the temps got to 67c:((
