This CPU is worth every last penny. I simply just dropped it into the socket, booted up and I was running in no time. By default it runs with a multiplier of 23 with a BCLK of 133 like every other first gen i7.
This CPU was really one of the best ones for overclocking. I could run at stock settings with less than 1v applied to the CPU without any stability. Then i could overclock to 3.8Ghz without ever even touching any other setting or voltage (1.23v). 4 Ghz was achieved with about 1.27v and 4.4 was with 1.33v. This chip runs really cool as well, but the included cooler is a joke.
Overall, extremely happy with this purchase and would buy again if needed. However, its not worth it these days because a faster SB chip can be had for about the same price.
Basically the same as the 920/930 with a higher multiplier.
Can be a good overclocker, or not depending on the chip itself.
Handles anything I throw at it. Will handle plenty for years to come.
Unfortunately the 1366 socket has pretty much been phased out and surpassed by SB and SB-E, but this CPU still holds it's own.
No reason to buy a 950 over a 920 or 930, but if you can pick one up for $199 from Microcenter, you won't be disappointed. Gave it 4 flames for being outdated.
State of art CPU, very good overclocking capabilities, and mostly noticeable: stays cool even when cooling it with a banana.
The only con is that its is outdated by Sandy-Bridge, so no reason to buy it over a fresh SB i7,
anyway, if you got a good deal on it, fear not.
Pros
Cons
Awesome OC Capability, Good Temps even under bad cooling, very reliable.
