1366 was a great platform

review by robitussin

I enjoyed my i7 930 I got into the 1366 right around the time the super golden 920's were fading and I was hoping there would be a few 930 chips on that level. There were, but mine wasn't one of them.

I got a decent clock on it and the process was both a learning experience and entertaining. These days with the unlocked multipliers overclocking has become a lot more simplified. I think messing with the bclock, ect. and trying different things is part of the fun in getting your highest clock. You can do somethings with the unlocked multi, but it almost feels like jumping right to the end of a game, this is about how much your going to get out of your chip, rather then enjoying the time you spend gaining levels.

I would recommend this chip to someone looking to get into overclocking as a hobby. If you have limited time grab a 2600k or a 990x and jump to the end quickly but if your looking for an experience this is a still relevant platform to get that in.

ProsCons
Price, OC headroom, Not unlocked multiNot unlocked multi, not sandybridge, end of life soon!
