Kingston HyperX 120GB SATA III 2.5-Inch 6.0 Gb/s Solid State Drive with SandForce Technology SH100S3/120G

Description:
Kingston's HyperX SSD combines the latest SandForce controller technology with premium NAND Flash, reducing load times while increasing performance and endurance. It provides high-speed SATA Rev 3.0 (6Gb/s) transfer speeds for larger bandwidth, which power users require for advanced gaming, multitasking and multimedia computing power. Kingston's HyperX SSD lets users load games and applications faster, increase frames per second (FPS) and quickly transfer and edit large media files. It's cool, silent and requires less power with no additional cooling requirements. When configuring the HyperX SSD partition, the user can choose between having the maximum available capacity for data storage, or give up a little space to increase performance and endurance. This additional space is called over provisioning1 on an SSD. The amount of performance and endurance increase depends upon the type of data being stored on the HyperX SSD. The more data that is MPEG, JPG, ZIP, ARC, file types, the greater the benefit for this increased over provisioning. HyperX SSD is covered by a three-year warranty and backed by 24/7 live technical support and legendary Kingston reliability.

Like you probably saw, I listed "bad reputation" as a con.
Why, you may ask. The answer is simple: It features the SandForce controller, which everyone appears to talk bad things about, making a lot of people steer away from this drive.
I bought this drive - despite what everyone says. One sentence describes it all:
"Couldn't have been happier".

I bought the "Upgrade kit" even though I didn't need it

The Upgrade package included;

An external USB enclosure
450

A screw driver with changeable bits
292

And a 2.5" to 3.5" bay adapter together with a SATA-600 cable (Currently installed, no pictures sorry

)

But back to the drive itself. I've never, not once, experienced instability problems with this drive. Never caused a BSOD, never froze etc. Nothing at all.
Ever since I got it, I've been trying to convince people SandForce (SF-2281) isn't that unstable, at least not anymore. Yet, people ignores me and continues to talk crap about SandForce.. sigh..

Anyways, like I've probably stated a million times now, I couldn't have been any happier with my drive! I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking for a reliable yet fast drive!

People ignore you because it's well known Sandforce works fine for most people... but there are still rare repeatable BSODs that crop up, it's just that most people will never experience them. So one person's experience doesn't prove the drive will be stable for everyone. It does prove it's stable for you. Congratulations and enjoy!
