Excellent SSD

review by nitrogannex

So I bought this on a whim because of a deal on newegg, and I've been wanting one for a while now. I absolutely love it, It comes packed in hard foam and the upgrade kit is phenomenal, esp the multitip screwdriver. Excellent performance for what I paid, definitely would recommend

Best $60 upgrade I've ever made

review by rookie1337

I only have SATA2 (3Gbps) ports so I'm sure I'm not getting the full benefit of this thing but even still...this has been a welcomed purchase. I went from 30 second to 1 minute boots on my 2008 500GB WD Black to 4-6 second boots on this thing. Programs open faster, but I guess I'm hampered by the SATA2 connections as they didn't seem as dramatically fast as people made them out to be. Overall, most reviews place this drive in the middle to upper end performance of current (2012) drives so while it isn't the winner of anything...it's above most. In fact where other drives usually are either the winner in a few tests and then fall into the middle of the pack, this drive stays pretty consistent throughout all the tests I've seen it put through. To me that's just fine especially at the price I paid.

Cons: The space is limited and if you follow the guidelines to maintaining performance over an SSD's lifetime; then you can subtract 10-25% of the space to be set aside (unpartitioned or just left unused) for that as well. Outside of that the connectors on it seem very fragile so be careful or you might break the SATA connectors right off.

ProsCons
Boot times were cut by dramatic factorsReally only 111GBs, still fairly expensive
