Pros: Build quality, Sound quality, Bass, Doesn't require an amp

Cons: Original earpads, Original cable, No earcup swivel

I'm no audio pro, so I can't write some crazy in-depth review. But I can give the basic pros and cons for someone like myself to use as pointers. I also can't really compare these headphones to anything else that I've owned in the past, as all I have are some Skullcandy's that I've been using for the past year or two. All I can say about those is that the Q40's are just a lot better. First, I'd like to thank friend'scatdied here on OCN for recommending these headphones to me, as they fit my needs perfectly. Anyhow, the first thing that jumped out at me was the build quality. These feel like really sturdy headphones, and that they'll last for a long time. They are quite tight at first, but the headband stretched out to fit my head nicely after a few hours of use. However, the ear pads that are included are low quality, and I immediately replaced them with some Beyerdynamic ear pads. They fit perfectly after a bit of struggling to put them on, but they feel much better than the originals and improve isolation. I don't know what to say about the sound quality other than that I'm highly satisfied with it, and the bass is wonderful. One final plus to note is that the Q40's do not require an amp, but I've heard that they benefit from one. There are two other minor problems. First is the cable. It screws in, which I don't mind, but it makes finding a replacement cable difficult, as many cables won't fit in the headphones due to the threads. The cable is also about nine feet long, and it is folded in the original packaging, creating kinks in the cable. My final complaint is that the ear cups do not swivel, so putting them around your neck is very uncomfortable. These inconveniences may be irritating, but as long as they sound great, I recommend them for anyone who wants some nice, bassy headphones.
