Great for gaming/crunching

review by jayce1971

Well, I've owned these two cards for a few months now. I run a maximum resolution of 1080p, that's why I decided on the 560Ti chipset. I'm really happy with how they've performed. They allow me to play Metro2033 with absolute highest settings. Crysis with everything maxed (sans AA 4X not 8x), and BF3 looks great. I can't max the game out on ultra, due to the limitted vram, so I must either lower textures or aa. But, it still looks silky smooth. I use these cards 24/7 for crunching on our BOINC team. Because of this, I have different preset profiles set up. One for gaming, one for benchmarking, and one for crunching. For doing wu's, I undervolt 10mv, lower the proc clock to around 880. This helps keep the temps around 62c max, running at 99%. For gaming, I run at factory clocks/volts. For benching, I raise the voltage about 50mv, and the clock to 1027+ or however high I feel like. Keep in mind, this card has room for ALOT more. You can raise the voltage 150mv if you wish, and run the clock over 1050-1080. It's designed to do this. But since I use these full time, constantly, I try to be a bit conservative. I do not allow the temps on any of my gpu's to exceed 70 degrees c. During normal gaming, #1 stays around 65 and #2 around 55c. My afterburner fan profile kicks in hard over 65c, so I almost never see even 67c.
The lifespan of this card is rated for: Gaming-10 yrs of continuous operation Office-40 yrs of continuous operation. It's built very well. Great components, you do get what you pay for.

IMO, this is the most thoughtfully designed and best built expression of the 560Ti GPU. I can't wait until the next line and prices on these go down. They would make an awsome folding or crunching farm.

The only thing that would make them better would be additional vram. I do take off a little bit for this.

ProsCons
Excellent cooling solution, overbuilt, 3 year transferrable warrantyvents into case, power inputs should be moved 90 degrees to end of card, needs more vram
