High gain wireless ac USB 3.0 adapter

review by jedson3614

Netgear's A6210 definitely sets itself apart from the competition. I didn't realize wi-fi was even an option for gaming until I used this. Using the companies beam-forming technology it produces speed unlike any adapter I have ever used. The USB 3.0 spec greatly enhances this claim. Beamforming is a standard designed to enhance speed and range of devices that use this technology. Most manufacturers use some sort of flavor of this, Netgear makes theirs stand out. It uses special driver level enchantments to give you the better speed and range you've always wanted. If you don't plan on using any high-end AC router don't completely disregard this adapter, it has backwards compatibility, and it still offers standard 2.4 and 5 GHz dual band channel improvements.

  • AC1200 support getting up to 300 Mb/s on 2.4 and 900 Mb/s on 5GHz bands
  • Supports 802.11ac. 802.11n, 802.11g, and 802.11a
The device itself is not small or slim. It uses a high gain antenna to achieve the best range. The antenna is able to flip , and flipping it up gives better range to your equipment.

The box includes
  • A6210 adapter
  • Resoure CD
  • quick start guide
  • USB dock
I would recommend using the included USB dock for the adapter as plugging it into USB port on your motherboard might be tricky with the flip antenna. The resource CD was very easy to use and setup. Installation was a breeze and I was quickly connected right away to my network. Netgear's genie software can be used to manage this adapter if desired. Its interface has similar look to windows with extra data and options. Whats nice about the software is it puts all network traffic information in one place.

Physically the adapter has

  • USB 3.0 connector
  • RF shielding
  • Dual antennas
  • Flip up antenna
  • WPS button
The RF shielding is great for eliminating cross-talk and interference from other frequencies.

To test the unit I played a number of games never once losing to network performance. My frag count was high and ping low. Even if you haven't yet updated your router you will still benefit from the design and performance of this adapter. Also gives you an ease of mind for future network upgrades. Incorporating this into a current AC standard will really show the true performance of this using its dual antennas and beamforming technology. This adapter is well worth your time and money. You can purchase this adapter right now on Amazon for $ 55.

High gain wireless ac USB 3.0 adapter

It's a great little adapter...for as long as it works. Mine started having drop outs a little past the end of the warranty. The dropouts stopped once I switched to an Ethernet connection.
