Great silent heatsink if you find it cheaper than $70

Posted

Pros: Cools 1.3V CPU 24/7 even at 700-900RPM silently , Noctua warranty , NT-H1 paste comes with it

Cons: Fan colors , lack of PWM for stock fans , pricey , huge

This is a great heatsink that until the Phanteks PH-TC14PE came along was the best on the market. It also helps that Noctua is extremely helpful in providing schematics, diagrams, and compatibility charts. Thermalright makes good heatsinks but compatibility charts are nowhere to be found, Silver Arrow SB-E fans are loud, takes up more vertical space, requires more effort to put on, and their overall package is lackluster. I get 60°C temps on Core 2 and 53-55°C for the rest after running Rosetta@Home/ POEM@Home / Folding@Home 24/7 on offset voltage 1.3V for my i5 CPU and that's with fans on low noise. The fans are SSO bearing, which are glorified/modified sleeve bearings, which also...

Pros: Whisper Quiet Great cooling performance

Cons: Cons: It is very big and takes up a lot of room

The D14 is the best air cooler I have ever owned. I can barely even hear it in my computer with the fans running at max RPM. It offers great cooling performance at an affordable price and keeps my processor cool when I am overclocking. Overall: a very good product and a recommended buy.

End in sight for my cooler journey

Pros: Mounting options, fans w/ sleeves, accessories, performance

Cons: Weight, fan mounting clips, size, weight

Let me first preface this review by admitting that I am terrible in seating cpu coolers. I always seem to make random mistakes, inevitably thinking whether the unfavorable result is due to my inability to have steady hands or just hardware shortcomings. With NH-D14, I've gone for the broke to see whether I could finally expect to see the best that my strenuous experience with cpu cooling can muster. My previous cooler of choice, the budget darling Coolermaster Hyper 212+ in push/pull config, present for non-analytic comparison. The cooler came in a very secure and honestly extraordinary package that contains all you need and then some to install it. All manner of mounting kits, two...

This cooler is amazing. Had a Cooler Master geminii S before, and the difference was unbelievable, and the CM was an excellent cooler. The cooler is really quiet for the performance, and if you own fan controllers, it is a no brainer. The cooler's performance kicks in when you overclock. I did benchmarks with the CM and the difference in load all stock was 2-3C. Once Overclocked 600Mhz on an AMD, the difference in load was 11-12C. The setup is easy, fast and the thermal paste that comes with it is ranked one of the highest pastes, up there with the AS 5! The good thing I like about Noctua, is how you can remove the fans, and adjust height whenever. Or even add a third fan on the other...

Pros: Excellent performance, easy to mount

Cons: none!

Awesome performance. My i7-2600K @ 4.8 GHz idles at 26 C and never goes above ~58 C under load. The mounting system makes the D14 very easy to install, and also allows removal of the cooler without needing to take out the motherboard. Overall I could not be happier with the NH-D14!

The largest most effective Air Cooling option in existence

Posted

Pros: Large cooling surface area, Silent operation, 6 heat pipes, 140/120mm fans

Cons: Can your case handle the size?

By far the best investment for the performance air cooled overclocker. Noctua has proved to be a manufacturer of high quality cooling. I am able to run a 1090T with max temps of 50 degrees at 4.0Ghz 24/7 in CM 690 case. Clears my G.SKill Ripjaw series ram just fine. The the second best feature of this cooler is the near silent fan operation provided by tow Noctua ball bearing fans. Noctua TIM proves to be a reliable temperature solution for all my components as well. Website support, customer service is a plus with Noctua!

Pros: Good cooler

Cons: Price.

This is a great cooler and will blow any closed loop system (EXCEPT the h100) out of the water. the stock fans i moved to the rear exhaust an put 2 120mm Scythe Slipstreams (100+cfm 1900rpm) that reduced my temps by over 3c as when i owned the nh-u9b it preformed worse with higher speed fans. Some large cons are that this cooler will not fit in some cases it barely fit in mine :/ The weight of the cooler strains my mobo's AMD backplate. though for the cost of this cooler and over all i think the Scythe Mine 2 would be a much better choice for the money.
