Incredibly fast and worth every penny
Pros: incredible response times, low CPU and power usage, very high write and read speeds, etc...
Cons: SATA II only, Outdated, Price is a little high ($260 retail)...
To start, this drive is fast. It's nothing but this. I've never experienced anything quite like it before. I've owned a Kingston Vseries SSD and had several Raid0/5 configurations before but none of them can tap into what this thing is capable of.
The drive is super light weight; I felt like I was going to break it if I held it the wrong way. Installation is super easy, no drivers to install just set in and go. 107GB was available to use right away and the OS install was clean and simple. Cold boot is in 15-20 seconds compared to the horrible two minutes of waiting I had to endure beforehand with that standard HDD...
I only loaded a single game onto it, World of Tanks, and just comparing framerates and load times I get better performance. I only lag during really intense moments with multiple flashes and if the dirt kicks up around me from several explosions. Framerate was around 30-45 with the old drive and now sits pretty at 50-80 only dipping down to 30 fps, like I said, when in super intense sequences.
The drive is so useful when I need to grab something fast. It's that ease of access and lack of wait time that makes it worth it in the end. Mind you this is in my Qosmio in my signature so the performance is greatly welcomed. No more waiting for a few minutes to let everything load on the desktop for me. Though the only thing I have to do, consistently, is any downloads I get I delete right after installing or moving to the data drive in the second slot. It gets a little tedious but nothing comes easy right? Small price to pay for something great.
The price, however, is that huge con that I can't state enough. It retailed on Newegg for $269+shipping. You could grab a C300 with faster read speeds, which matters more, for the same price and grab more performance. I got my on a deal for $169 with free shipping so for an almost $1:1GB ratio, I took my chances and scored big time. I wouldn't change from this drive for any reason, unless it involved my physical self being harmed.
I can't say much more than I already have. I've only owned it for less than two weeks so I can't say on how well it performs outside of that window. But I will updated this as time progresses. I can say that I would recommend it to someone else.
Thanks for reading!
