Packaging - Exterior

The outer packaging for this video card, like all video cards, is full colored, with all specifications along with a full render of the video card.

Packaging - Interior

The interior features a brown box, which contains the video card, instruction manual and CD with drivers.

First view and impressions

When having this card in my hand for the first time, I was very surprised at the sheer size of the card. You immediately understand why this card can be passive. The fins are very thick and large. The heatsink has a very premium feel to it.

Heatsink

The heatsink features a tiny bezel parallel to the card which carries the company name and the KalmX branding. You can also see, when looking into the fins, that it is made to contact with more components on the GPU PCB. We'll see later what these are!

PCB - Back

The cards PCB looks small compared to the size of the heatsink. This is reassuring that the card can work passively.

Display outputs

The card features a DVI port, HDMI and display port, so should be able to satisfy most users.

Die shots and heatsink part 2

The GP107 die of the 1050 Ti is cooled directly by a cold plate, which is in contact with two long heatpipes distributing heat through the large fin array, while the VRM is cooled directly by fins to prevent overheating.

Memory

The card features 4GB (4*1GB) Micron D9TRZ chips.

Packaging content

The card package, as mentionned earlier, contains a one page per language instruction manual for installing drivers along with the driver CD.

Let's go see benchmarks!

Data Summary

My card sample seems to be a great clocker on stock voltage. Since I was already hitting my power limit very often, I did not overclock it using additional voltage. With a fan blowing a bit of air over the card, it will yield phenomenal temperatures. My card was benched horizontally with a 140mm fan, blowing at <800 RPM diagonally to the card at 3 inches away.

We see a almost linear improvement with clock and score increase through all benchmarks.

Conclusion

This card has great potential in a light gaming rig, even working passively, this card can cool itself, which is great, but what is even better is that with light airflow, this card stays as cool as a watercooled GPU, which in itself is a great feat. I was a bit skeptic at first because of it only having two heat pipes, but boy was I proved wrong.

If you're in the market for a 1050 Ti, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend this card!

I'd easily give it a 5 out of 5 flames!!

ProsCons
Heatsink, passive, even better with airflowPower Limit (1050 Ti problem, not exclusive to this card)
