Pros: cheap, heatsinked, works fine

Cons: none

my board only supports ddr3 1333, but sincce it was $2 extra i decided to get this and maybe overclock it back to 1600 mhz or above. works great, nice and cool, my mobo set it as ddr3 1066 but retiming it was easy. in linux its overkill, i rarely hit 4gb let alone 8. this will keep me going for awhile.

this is advertised as intel memory. i ran it on amd. maybe it performs better on its intended system. i wouldn't know.

so i'm not sure how to rate this. on the one hand it ran perfectly at the rated speed, timings, and voltage, which deserves a 5. on the other hand, it absolutely refused to overclock speed or timings regardless of voltage, which deserves a 0.

the heat spreaders seem particularly useless, but that seems to be the trend. the ram is barely warm to the touch even with 1.8v. they looked pretty good, and matched the red/black color scheme of my motherboard. i know this is a big consideration for some people, and red/black seems like a popular choice on this site. the red part shown in the picture is just a glossy sticker though. not too fancy.

my set had the green PCB but you could barely see it at all installed. i believe they make a black PCB set as well but you have to get lucky.

i purchased this because it had generally positive reviews on newegg and was one of the cheapest sets i could find. i ended up reselling this ram for what i paid. i would not recommend it for performance users but if you can find it cheap like i did it does work as advertised and could be useful for a budget system.
