Pros: Makes me feel like I have a robot hand. Every game I own just got a 5 hour keybinding DLC, Makes gaming easier and less bulky, It has a sweet console.
Cons: Keybinding doesn't give me an achievement. I've yet to really play anything just key bind. The thumb stick should be analog. No auto support for games
After plugging this thing in and installing the program-yes of course it has a program everything now has a program not just drivers but a whole console. We can talk about that after I share my moment.
Putting my hand on it instantly made me 10 again. It was like finding the random house object of the week that would serve my robot appendage. They did a good job making this comfortable. I can't believe this is the same company that designed a mouse that turns my hand into a cramp claw. I sat there randomly pressing buttons and watching the green LED bathe my hand. If I had one of these when I was 10 I would have wore it on a belt next to the duck hunger gun. I adjusted it about 23 times just because it has the feature. I put my wives hand on it as well and adjusted it for her and made her fingers press the buttons. She was kinda not impressed.
Okay lets use the thing on a real life game.
After four hours trying to get Witcher 3 not so awkward and creating three profiles that I can flip between I realized I didn't need like half the buttons or profiles. Tonight I get to map it some more. When I was actually using It felt like the first time I picked up the PS1 analogs. My fat preteen fingers made a buffoon out of me many nights but I mastered it and still use it. I will probably sell this on craigslist before I actually get a good play through. I've played the actual device more than the game. As cool as it is it would be even cooler if Razer would put a forum inside the program they made me install and let users have their own social club and trade profiles. You could even reward contributors with their own special limited addition whatever and make playing the device more appealing than playing games. Imagine how much money you could make. Honestly it sounds like bad upper management because I know someone has thought about creating a database of customers and letting them share the profiles they spent hours on. I think I read on Reddit they actually have made a poor attempt of this but I can't find it in any google search.
Synapse is the program Razer makes you install. It's nice it you have multiple Razer devices. It also has a cool feature where-in you see how many times you pressed each button and what part of the thing you spent the most time on. You can also create Macros which I didn't know people still used I took the opportunity to show my son how to cheat in his favorite clicking game. It also shows all the games I have installed but I haven't quite figured out what that does.
I think this will be the reality of this thing.
This had four or five red stickers on it with as many price drops. The price I paid was even cheaper. I felt like I won some great treasure hunt. It instantly it grabbed my attention. Yet the potential is wasted and being amazing is useless if they don't grab a bigger market. It will be collecting dust on the desk of every casual who buys it after two releases of whatever the flavor of the month is. I see the people who gain the most from this are the ones who play one MMORPG's for years and the kids who play MOBAs for money. They could sell a lot more units, and keep a lot more devices out of the closet if they paid more attention and actually used what they created. I see this thing having a niche market of die hard fans but it will fail to keep their meal ticket the casual.
I give it four stars because of the potential. Someone smarter than me will pick it up and create a way to make it easier to use. Then share it with the world.
Excuse me destroying the English language I'll fix it.
