Overall happy

review by darius silver

Love the sound of this headset. For games it is awesome, can easily tell where sound (footsteps, bullets, ect) are coming from. Music is pretty good on these too, though it lacks bass I find.

What I really dislike about the HD555's is how quickly the plastic cracks and breaks.

ProsCons
Great soundstage in gamesBuild quality is lacking

Good set of headphones

review by ieatfish

The headphones fit snugly on my head and the felt pads feel great. These are know for being great for sound positioning in gaming due to the wide sound stage and defined sound. They lack bass in the sense that your head won't shake but they don't sound like a laptop speaker, if you get what I mean. The cable is a regular plastic one and has the larger 1/4" plug. It comes with a 3.5mm adapter.

I really like these at home since I can hear my wife calling to me. However, that also means I hear anything else going on as well as letting everyone else hear what I'm doing. This may not be an issue for many people but it is something to remember.

You can mod these very easily and remove a piece of foam that makes them sound almost identical to the more expensive HD595s.

ProsCons
Comfortable, good sound, nice padsOpen design, 'tinny', weak (but defined) bass

Good set of headphones

review by ieatfish
Keep in mind, almost identical does not mean identical. Sennheiser didn't just put a piece of foam and made it cheaper. Let's not insult the brand too harshly here. Still, the HD555s are a great pair of headphones.

Good

review by willanhanyard

Oh course these aren't your ultra high end headphones, but they do very well for the price. They outperform the Beats By Dre incase you were thinking about buying those pieces of garbage. Love the headphones for gaming too.

ProsCons
Cheap, I got them for $80 and they sound great. Their build quality is also very good.It doesn't sound like a million bucks?

Great Start

review by thewolfe

I've had these for about a year now. By far the best headphones I've ever had. I'm hesitant to buy anything else, because they might not match up! These are ridiculously low priced now (especially used). They are great for anyone starting to appreciate music, has a soundcard and a decent FLAC collection. My only complaint is the headband is weak. Many users report having a minor crack in the same place. Other than that, they are incredibly comfortable.

ProsCons
Earpad size, earpad quality, sound quality, cord length, price.Open air (loud to others), easy to break headband.
